Accessibility statement

The Port of Barcelona is committed to making the PierNext website accessible in accordance with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of the public sector (hereinafter, Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September) and with Decree 216/2023, of 5 December, on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of the Administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya and its public sector (hereinafter, Decree 216/2023).

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://piernext.portdebarcelona.cat/

This website applies the requirements of the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard, taking into account the exceptions of RD 1112/2018.

Compliance status

The PierNext website has been developed and reviewed applying the accessibility requirements of the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard. The remediation of the site's components and templates was completed and verified on the live site on 21 September 2026: all the technical remediation plan tasks within the agreed scope are implemented and verified instrumentally. In this verification, the sample templates show no issues in the reference automated analyser, full keyboard navigation is operational —with the focus always visible— and the content can be traversed with a screen reader with its elements correctly identified. This verification was carried out taking WCAG 2.2 AA as its reference, higher than the legally required minimum.

Even so, this website is partially compliant with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, owing to the exceptions and non-compliance indicated below, associated mainly with previously published content and third-party content.

Legacy graphics and data visualisations

  • Some interactive data visualisations embedded in previously published content do not always provide an accessible text alternative to the data they represent, nor are they fully operable by keyboard (Criteria 9.1.1.1 and 9.2.1.1 of the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard). Newly published charts and tables are produced in accessible HTML format, with semantic structure and a text description of the data. An accessible alternative to the data in these visualisations can be requested through the contact mailbox indicated in the "Observations and contact details" section.

PDF documents

  • Some PDF documents from previously published compilations and reports do not comply with the PDF/UA-1 standard (Criteria 10.1.1.1, 10.1.3.1 and 10.4.1.2 of the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard, among others). Their full content is available, in accessible format, as HTML articles on the site itself, which constitute the accessible reference version.

b) Disproportionate burden

No disproportionate burden is claimed. The pending corrections are considered manageable and are addressed through the progressive correction described in this statement.

c) Content not within the scope of the applicable legislation

  • Pre-recorded videos published before 23 September 2020 (exception provided for in RD 1112/2018).
  • Third-party content that is not funded or developed by the Port of Barcelona or under its control (for example, embedded video players from external platforms, social media widgets and sharing utilities).

Preparation of this accessibility statement

The method used to prepare the statement was a self-assessment carried out by the body, reinforced by an instrumental verification on the live site on 21 September 2026, taking WCAG 2.2 AA as its reference. The verification covered a sample of 16 templates representative of all the site's page types, plus the publications listing, and combined automated accessibility validation tools (the axe-core analyser and the Nu HTML Checker code validator) with manual checks of keyboard navigation, screen-reader reading in two browsers, contrast, 200% zoom, reflow to 320px and content structure.

If, once a request for accessible information or a complaint has been made, it has been rejected, you disagree with the decision taken, or the response does not meet the requirements of Article 12.5 of RD 1112/2018, you may initiate a claim to:

  • ascertain and object to the grounds for rejection;
  • urge the adoption of appropriate measures in the event of disagreement with the decision taken;
  • set out the reasons why you consider that the response does not meet the required conditions.

A claim may also be initiated if 20 working days have elapsed without any response having been obtained.

PierNext's commitment to accessibility

This website applies the requirements of the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard, taking into account the exceptions of RD 1112/2018.

PierNext has been built with the aim of facilitating universal access for all the people who consult it, regardless of their physical, sensory or intellectual abilities, and of the technical context in which they do so (type of device, software, connection speed, environmental conditions, etc.). For this reason, we work with the aim of removing the barriers that hinder access to information and communication.

The Port of Barcelona's commitment is to maintain and complete the 'Double-A' (AA) level of conformance, as required of public administrations by European and national legislation.

Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 establishes the rules required of Member States so that all public-sector websites and mobile applications, regardless of the device used to access them, comply with the accessibility requirements set out in the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard, on accessibility requirements for the public procurement of ICT products and services in Europe.

The UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard is based mainly on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, of August 2018. Specifically, level AA must be met. However, the standard also has other additional requirements, both mandatory and conditional.

The directive is mandatory but not directly applicable; therefore, at the national level, a royal decree has been developed that sets out its scope and requirements, as a minimum. The national transposition is Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of the public sector.
